Links that come from spammy websites or content mills, on the other hand, are likely to lower rankings.

The most advantageous for SEO purposes is to have the URL structure reflect the title of the page. Advertising is a major part of many Internet marketers' business plans, and when every ad represents possible income it's easy to be tempted into plastering them across each available pixel.
